The work

Around 1985, when I started studying art I was specially interested in finding a "calligraphy" for my art. A mark, a trace that belonged to me and would express my views of the world. I was taken by the idea that If there was any sort of naive art that would be children's.

This belief was soon discredited as I studied art education at University.
I understood that education can be bias and shape our view of the world since such small age.
I became particularly interested in  how the world is portrayed by adults as a form of idealization and formation to children through games, books, tales and toys...

Thirty years later I still ask myself those questions and search for answers to the how, what and why questions in the elaboration of my artwork.

These questions led me to think about issues related to identity, local and global culture, mainly in relation to image and object meanings.

As a Brazilian national, also being result of the multicultural and racial melting pot, I seek understanding to the new questions the contemporary world is imposing, both as an individual as well as an artist.
